Transferring your wealth to your estate beneficiaries will be an important task, and choosing between your friends and family to be the executor of your estate can be difficult.
Instead, consider choosing an estates lawyer to be the executor and trustee of your estate. Having a lawyer named as your executor comes with many advantages. First, lawyers are experienced with legal matters and administrative tasks, which could otherwise stress your family during their time of loss. Second, legal bank accounts are governed by the Law Society of Ontario, which provides confidence when disbursing your wealth. Finally, lawyers are trained to act on the instructions of your will, instead of any family dynamics which may exist at the time.
Choosing a lawyer to be your executor can reduce any conflict within your family which may arise by choosing the wrong executor. Knowing that your estate will be disbursed with prestige and professionalism will give you peace of mind.
If you choose Mr. Falldien to be your executor and estate trustee, the legal fees charged would be a commission of 5 percent of the value of your estate. Additional fees would apply to prepare your will and power of attorney documents, as detailed below.
